Discover Another Side of Poland!

  • Wed 25th August 2004, 9:18 am

Welcome to our web site. Would you like to experience a unique side of Poland, away from the tourists, in the heart of the country...forests, lakes, rivers, rolling hills and genuine Polish hospitality await you.

If you are interested in discovering this part of Poland, we invite you to spend two weeks with us on a working farm in the Polish countryside. Here you will be able to observe the rustic way of life, filled with Polish traditions. Your host, Tadeusz, will share with you his knowledge of animal husbandry, fishing for trout in the river, making preserves from farm-grown fruit, baking bread, and other useful skills which define the rustic way of life.

We will also visit some interesting historic places nearby....

Slavik forts, German fortifications lines from the second world war and a network of bunkers around the city of Wa³cz, former soviet army bases including atomic bomb silos near the towns of Borne Sulinowo and Gródek occupied until 1992

We will also take you on a kayak trip along the meandering Pi³awa river.

Some practical information:

Accommodation:

Our camp will be located in the village of Tarnowo, at the "Zagroda Obrodzkich" campground. We will be camping in large Polish army tents. Toilets, showers and a kitchen will be available.

What to bring:

A sleeping bag, flashlight, rain jackets- Polish summers can be rainy and cool, so bring something warm to wear in the evenings.

Who this is for:

We organized this camp for people of Polish descent who live outside of Poland and are interested in getting to know Poland and the Polish way of life. You do not have to speak the Polish language to attend, but there will be plenty of opportunities for you to listen to Polish being spoken and practice speaking it if you wish. We invite anyone over 18 to participate in this camp. Families or children with a guardian are also welcome to attend because we will be sharing the campground with a summer camp for Polish kids and your children can have an opportunity to interact with the Polish youth.

.... If you are interested in combining this unique experience with a Polish language course, we recommend "The Baltic School" in the beautiful, modern, port city of Sopot. They offer a 2 week long session starting, the first Monday of every month and have a range of accommodation options for you to choose from. Check their web site for more information. http://www.balticschool.iq.pl upon completing the course we can provide transportation to the location of our camp.
